(KCEN) -- January 2 of next year, the Department of Defense will implement a devastating blow to the military budget.

Thousands will lose their jobs.

But Senator John Cornyn says there is a correlation between when people will find out if they're losing their job and the Presidential Election in November.

As of right now the Department of Labor has not notified employees they may be affected by the sweeping cuts.

He vows to continue to hold the Obama Administration's feet to the fire.

Specifically, the Department of Defense and the Office of Management and Budget.
