You've heard the phrase "There's an app for that." Well, when it comes to preparing for a hurricane, there is now an app for that as well.
The American Red Cross launched their "I'm Safe" app on Thursday. It offers life-saving information right in the hands of people who live in or visit hurricane-prone areas.
The app provides up-to-the-minute weather updates, and even offers a function where you can press a button to let folks know that you are safe.
"It has an 'I'm Safe' button, where you can click on that and send information to your social network and let them know you are okay," said Danny Resendez of the American Red Cross.
The app is available for iPhone and Android platforms.
