Houston man dies of West Nile virus

A Houston man diagnosed with West Nile virus has died, health officials said.

The death was reported to the city of Houston's health department on Wednesday.

The man was 75 to 84 years old and lived in southwest Houston, officials said.

There are two other human West Nile virus cases in Houston. Both are women ages 55 to 74 years old. One lives in northeast Houston and the other lives in east Houston.

There have been eight other West Nile Virus-related deaths in Texas. Five of those were in Dallas County.

Most people become infected within three to 10 days of a bite from an infected mosquito.

Symptoms include fever, headache, body tremors and visual problems.
