A local woman went to her niece's apartment at a housing complex near Crosstown and Laredo Friday morning, and discovered that a crime had taken place.
Maria Canales was just visiting to check on the place and pay the rent, when she noticed that the television set, stereo and even the air conditioner was missing. Her niece has been of town for about a week, visiting family in San Antonio. The crime happened sometime between last Wednesday and Thursday night.
The value of the items stolen, a TV, stereo and three air conditioner window units, is about $1,000. Corpus Christ Police Department crime scene technicians have collected evidence from the apartment, but so far, no suspects have been named.
