CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
The humble beginnings and rich history of a local Baptist church were celebrated this weekend with worship and fellowship.
It was an energetic scene Sunday morning, as members of Calvary First Baptist Church on Carver Street praised Jesus and celebrated their church's 73rd anniversary.
They call it "homecoming weekend," a reunion for present and former members of the church.
Sunday's church service was followed by a delicious potluck and the presentation of a plaque to honor the church's oldest living member, Brother McKindley Darden, Sr. He's 102-years old.
He was not able to attend the service because he's been feeling under the weather, but his family accepted the plaque on his behalf.
