CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
It has been well over a year since a 17-year old boy was gunned down outside his home. Now, his family is hoping a reward will help catch his killer.
On March 15 of last year, James Roy Ross stepped outside to text his girlfriend when someone opened fire. He was struck in the chest, and died in his parents' arms.
Since then, there have been few leads; but now the family, with the help of friends, have set up a reward fund to help catch the killer.
"The Crimestoppers blitz is $1,000, so I decided to raise to try to get a reward higher," said Melanie Renee Metoyer, mother of the murdered teen. "I did a benefit barbecue, car wash and bake sale, and we raised another thousand dollars to add to the reward, to see if it helps anybody come forward with information."
If you have any information that could help catch the killer, call Crimestoppers at 361-888-8477.
