Lake Charles man arrested for aggravated rape

A Lake Charles man has been arrested and charged with aggravated rape.

On August 7, 2012, detectives assigned to the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations arrested David Thomas Shelton, 35, of Lake Charles. Investigators say Shelton engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with a juvenile female.

Shelton is already incarcerated at the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center after his arrest by State Police investigators on July 12, 2012, for distribution of child pornography. Bond for this latest charge was set at $300,000.

A news release from the Louisiana State Police says troopers will continue to work to rescue children from the potential abuse of child predators by targeting individuals who choose to prey upon children. This is an ongoing effort, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies.
