Teachers and administrators are getting ready for the school year by attending a conference about school crime Wednesday.
The full-day workshop, held on the east campus of Del Mar College, was attended by about four dozen educators from all over the Coastal Bend.
Topics included bullying, assaults on campus, sexting and issues with drugs, including synthetic marijuana. Guest speakers included top brass from the Corpus Christi Police Department, the head of the Corpus Christi Independent School District Police and District Attorney Mark Skurka.
"One of things we hope to accomplish is for more cooperation between school district and PD, so we can makes sure schools are safer for our students," said Anne Cunningham, assistant dean of continuing education at Del Mar College.
It's a first-of-its-kind event in Corpus Christi, and organizers hope to make it an annual tradition.
