Ingleside Receives Grant to Aid in Water Distribution

INGLESIDE (Kiii News) -

A government grant for over a million dollars is heading to the Ingleside area to help with growing water needs in that area.

The grant is coming thanks to continued development in that community, and the impending sale of the land that once held Naval Station Ingleside.

"It's an opportunity to take the money we bonded for to repair one tank, use it as our matching, and get additional money so we can build an additional elevated storage tank, which is a huge thing for Ingleside," Ingleside Mayor Peter Perkins said. "This will take us into the future an additional 50-60 years, without any worries about water storage and water supply."

Congressman Blake Farenthold was on hand Wednesday to present the $1.2-million check. The funds will go to improve the city's water distribution system, so it can increase its water capacity to help meet the growing needs of the Ingleside community.
