Posted: Updated:

The Orange County Mosquito Control director has informed 12News HD that a collection of mosquitoes from Orange County has tested positive for West Nile virus.

The mosquitoes were collected on August 1st north of Interstate 10 and east of Highway 105 in the west side of the county.

The Mosquito Control department has increased spraying in the area and officials have planned additional testing of samples from the same location where the previous batch tested positive.

This is the first batch of mosquitoes this year to test positive for the virus in Orange County.  Three batches collected in Jefferson County this year have tested positive.
