Slick Roads, Unsafe Speeds Cause I-37 Accident

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A quick afternoon rain shower and some unsafe driving speeds caused three drivers to crash on Thursday.

The driver of a green sport utility vehicle told police that the slick roads caused him to lose control, and he hit the median of I-37 near Rand Morgan.

Upon impact, his spare tire dislodged and landed in the middle of the freeway. As the driver of a black car swerved to miss the tire, it was rear ended by the driver of a white car. One person in the black car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

"There will be one citation for failure to control speed on the second accident," said Lt. McClure of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "Probably the same thing for the first accident."

It took about 45 minutes for traffic to flow smoothly after the accident.
