CCPD Honors Local Man as Hero

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A local man was honored as a hero on Friday, for helping a Corpus Christi Police Officer arrest an unruly driver.

Victor Zamora, 54, was recognized for his heroic action back on Aug. 2, when he stepped in to help CCPD Officer Eric Garza subdue a driver that was being pulled over at the beach for driving recklessly.

The driver's three other friends tried to break up the arrest, and that is when Zamora stepped in to back the officer up. A small scuffle ensued and Zamora was punched in the face. Police backup quickly arrived, but the situation could have been a whole lot worse.

The 19-year old driver that started the whole incident was arrested for reckless driving and resisting arrest.
