ROBSTOWN (Kiii News) - Workers at the Coastal Gymnastics Academy went through the rubble of their burned down business, trying to salvage what they could. The crew shared pictures and video of what the gym looked like inside before a massive fire ripped through the structure of the building on Thursday. It was a place where athletes practiced for cheer and gymnastics events. The owner of CGA Cheer, Felipe Salazar, says he's been training kids at the facility since the 1990's. The building also used to be an old movie theater. Even though the owner and others who used the gym are sadden by the events, they remain optimistic. They are also thankful for the support that the community has provided them. Two different gyms have offered their facilities to CGA, Mary Janes Gymnastics in Corpus Christi as well as Spirit Cheer from Alice. The owner says the kids will still have practice on Monday. He's just not sure where that will be yet. In the meantime, an account has been set up to help the gym get back on its feet. You can help by donating to the benefit account at Navy Army Community Credit Union, and is listed under CGA Cheer. The account number is #1848411.
