CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The Corpus Christi Hispanic Chamber of Commerce wants to remind you of some of the big events happing locally during National Hispanic Heritage Month.

Mark your calendar for Thursday, Sept. 13. From 7-9:30 p.m., there will be a huge event called Cantos del Pueblo. The event will include singing, dancing and a Catholic mass, all to be held at the American Bank Center. It's free and open to the public.

The Cantos del Pueblo is one of about 35 events happening here during Hispanic Heritage Month. The Greenwood Library is hosting two more, including a Tejano music exhibition.

"Tejano music is very central to culture here in South Texas," said Herb Canales, director of libraries for the City of Corpus Christi. "It's very important, and people will have an opportunity to meet the musicians. We will have programs talking about history of tejano music. It's important in South Texas, and Corpus Christi."

The Tejano Music Exhibition will be held Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Greenwood Library, located on Greenwood and Horne.
