CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A man dubbed by law enforcement as a serial bank robber is on trial in a Corpus Christi courtroom.

Edwin Gus Schneider, 49, is charged with robbing the Compass Bank on Ayers and SPID back on June 9, 2010. About a month later, Schneider was found asleep in a car in San Marcos when police discovered he was also wanted for at least four other robberies around the state of Texas, including one in Port Lavaca, two in Round Rock and the one here in Corpus Christi.

Schneider has a lengthy criminal history, including arrests for burglary, larceny, theft, possession of controlled substance, evading arrest, making a false report, failure to appear and driving while intoxicated.

If found guilty, the bank robbery charges each carry a penalty of two-to-20 years in prison, and up to a $10,000 fine.
