There have been six bank robberies since April and eight so far this year in the Golden Triangle.
The eight bank robberies this year is way up from just one in Beaumont up to this time last year.
Three people have been arrested, leaving four on the loose. Of the eight, five of those were Beaumont banks, two robberies happened at Orange banks and the most recent bank robbed was in Nederland.
The Federal Bureau of Investigations says it's not unusual to see a spike in robberies in the Summer because the warm weather brings out more people and more crime.
Walking into a bank is not something Floyd Guillory, Jr. does without thinking twice since the spike in bank robberies.
"When I was coming up as a kid we could leave doors unlocked. Can't do any of that anymore," said Guillory.
In addition to the weather, FBI Special Agent Anne Figueiras says the economy could play a part. However, she says most get away with less than $1,000.
"It's not like what you see on TV, you don't walk away with a lot of money because it's a quick crime," said Spc. Agent Figueiras.
Quick crimes with similar trends.
The FBI says most of the robbers handed the teller a note demanding money. They also indicated they had a gun, but never showed it.
Disguises are also popular among bank robbers, like the cowboy culprit. Agents say he is James Bergeron. He was arrested after police say he robbed the Orange Capital One in July.
"People try to put on some disguise most time, but it's pretty flimsy," said Spc. Agent Figueiras.
The tall dark and handsome bandit, who police say is John Stark was caught baring his face while robbing two Beaumont banks.
So did Elizabeth Hardin police say she robbed another Capital One in Orange, only changing her hair.
"You can't take anything lightly these days. I'm suspicious of everyone," said Guillory.
While just three robbers have been arrested, the FBI says it has a good idea who the other four suspects are. They plan to indict them in the coming months.
