One man is behind bars Tuesday night after police served a search warrant at his home on the 4600 block of McGregor, near Gollihar and Staples.
Police said they found $30,000 worth of drugs. They believe that this was one of the mid-level dealers here in the city.
Police are trying to target some of the bigger people involved to actually make an impact in the drug problem in this city.
"You can target the lower level all the time. You are still going to be arresting the same offenders," said Lt. David Blackmon of the Corpus Christi Police Department's Narcotics and Vice Division. "You get further up the chain, you start to disrupt the chain below it. That's actually what we are targeting."
The search warrant was executed a little before 11 a.m. Tuesday. After performing undercover operations, police believed narcotics were in the home, and they were right. The SWAT team and the CCPD's Narcotics and Vice Division found what they believed to be over $15,000 of crystal meth.
Police arrested 41-year old Adam Garcia. It was in his home where the drugs were found. He will face two drug charges, possession and intent to deliver.
Garcia's brother, 34-year old Jose Garcia, was also in the home, and was arrested on a burglary warrant. Other family members at the home were not arrested, and had to wait outside during the search warrant execution.
Neighbors said they never saw anything suspicious, and are in shock that this happened in their quiet neighborhood.
"For a car to stop and them to be selling drugs, or looking like they were selling drugs, never," neighbor Arnold Suarez said. "This is a little surprising."
One neighbor said that the neighborhood has changed a lot over the years, and he has taken some measures to protect his home.
"I've raised my level of security, and I have motion sensors," neighbor Chris Pena said. "And just recently, I put an internet camera outside my front door."
Police are still not sure if Garcia had any gang affiliations.
