If you are a parent, then you know how challenging it can be to check off everything on your child's back to school list; but this weekend, you will get a little extra help.
Friday kicks off Tax Free Weekend in Texas, and runs through Sunday. According to the National Retail Federation, spending will reach $83.8 billion this year.
The tax-free law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced less than $100 from sales taxes.
On Thursday, some parents were at Target, forgoing Tax Free Weekend to try and get a jump start on the crowds.
"I find it is harder to find what they need on Tax Free Weekend, so sometimes it's easier for me to get it done beforehand," said Tiele Dockens, who was shopping for school supplies. "I did their clothes shopping a month ago."
Families will save about $8 for every $100 they spend.
