Three people from the Houston area are in the Jefferson County jail following a large disturbance Sunday at the Elegante Hotel in Beaumont.
Just after 1 a.m., an off-duty Department of Public Safety trooper called police for assistance with a large disturbance.
A statement issued by the Beaumont Police Department says officers tried several times to disburse the crowd, but some refused to leave. As officers tried to arrest a person described by police as a, " particularly unruly subject," others in the crowd tried to stop officers from taking him into custody.
Officers then used pepper spray to subdue the crowd and arrest the man. A second person was arrested for interference with the arrest.
Police say by this time, only a few people were left in the lobby, but they were still being verbally abusive, and one more person was arrested for disorderly conduct.
Officers identify the people arrested as Louis Albrow, 49, charged with interfering with public duties; Winston A. Norman, 39, charged with disorderly conduct and outstanding warrants; and Chelsea Norman who was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.
