Port Arthur police officers are investigating an accident involving a Greyhound bus. Six people were hurt in the accident, one of them critically.
The collision happened at the intersection of 39th St. and Memorial Blvd just before 4 p.m. Monday.
A statement issued by the Port Arthur Police Department says the driver of a Ford F-150 ran through a red light and crossed Memorial Boulevard. The bus driver was unable to avoid hitting the pickup. The collision caused the pickup to roll into the grassy median.
There were 49 passengers on the bus. They were on the way to Houston after making a stop in Port Arthur.
A policeman on the scene told 12News HD there were no injuries to report. Officials later said there were 6 people hurt, one of them critically.
Four passengers from the bus were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Firefighters used a Jaws of Life to get two people out of the pickup. The driver of the pickup was taken to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont. He is listed in critical condition. The passenger from the pickup was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
