CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
A man who was on his way to work was hit by a car at around 6:30 p.m. Monday morning, on the 9000 block of Leopard Street.
An employee of the Sam Kane Beef Processors, Inc., had just exited a Regional Transportation Authority bus on Leopard and was attempting to cross the street to go to work, when he was clipped by a car. The man suffered some possible broken bones.
Police said there are no sidewalks on that stretch of road, and traffic is swift.
"Probably 40-45 miles an hour, at impact," said Senior Officer Russell McNorton of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "He is lucky he got clipped, not head on. It could have been a much more serious accident."
The driver of the vehicle will not be getting a ticket, as the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.
