Backwards Silhouettes Fixed on Bee County Courthouse

BEEVILLE (Kiii News) -

A great wrong has been righted in the City of Beeville, after a county employee noticed something wasn't quite right at the Bee County Courthouse.

County Commissioner Dennis Dewitt said most people never look up, and that is probably why up until now, no one has noticed that the silhouettes of Texas at the top of the county courthouse were facing in the wrong direction.

When someone brought the mishap to Dewitt's attention, he took it very seriously, even putting the item on Monday's official court agenda.

Sure enough, before it came to that, on Thursday the silhouettes were turned around and put in their proper place. Dewitt said no one knows just how long the silhouettes were backwards, but it was something that needed to be fixed.

Originally, Dewitt thought the silhouettes were made of glass, and that fixing the display might be somewhat difficult. It turns out they were only wooden cutouts, and they only had to be turned upside down.

Dewitt said the easy fix was done at no extra cost to the taxpayer.
