Hooks Clinch Playoff Berth With 5-2 Win Over Missions

Corpus Christi (Kiii Sports)- The Corpus Christi Hooks are heading back to the playoffs for the first time since 2006.

The Hooks jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after two innings, and put the game away with an 8th-inning HR by outfielder Austin Wates.

Closer Jason Stoffel got Reymond Fuentes on a grounder to 2nd to end the game and set off a wild celebration for over 7,700 fans and players.

The Hooks will open the playoffs in Frisco against the RoughRiders on September 5th. Game 3 of the best-of-five series will be the first at Whataburger Field on Friday, September 7th. Individual game playoff tickets will go on sale Monday morning at 9 A.M.
