Beaumont police have identified a man who was shot to death Monday night.
Police identify the victim as Trazayre Sanders, 21, of Beaumont.
Just before 10 p.m. 911 operators began getting calls from people who said they heard gunshots in a north-end neighborhood. One caller told a 911 operator that a victim was inside a house at 1828 Glasshouse Street.
When officers got to the house, they found Sanders with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth where doctors pronounced him dead.
Judge Ray Chesson has ordered an autopsy. A Beaumont Police Department spokesperson says detectives will release preliminary autopsy findings as soon as possible.
Twenty minutes after Sanders arrived at the hospital, Jacoby Holman, 18, of Beaumont, showed up at the Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth E.R. with a gunshot wound to his left hip. Holman said he was shot in the 2800 block of Gulf Street. He said he did not know who fired the gun. He was taken to the Beaumont Police Department for questioning.
After being questioned, Holman was taken to the Jefferson County Jail for outstanding city warrants. he has since posted bond.
Detectives believe the two shootings are related and are working to determine the exact nature of that link.
