A fishing boat is still stuck out on the Port Aransas jetties after the boat's captain accidentally crashed it into the rocks when his GPS quit working.
The Barracuda was listing in the water and up against the jetties Wednesday afternoon. Over the weekend, the boat ended up there because the captain said he couldn't see the jetties in the dark. His navigation system went out, and he took a chance trying to get back, and misjudged where the jetties and channel were.
The Texas General Land Office said the boat cannot stay there much longer, and said that efforts are underway to get the Barracuda towed.
"He's trying to work as diligently as he can," said Alfredo Valadez, with the Texas General Land Office. "He's working real hard to try and get it off as soon as possible, and he's doing a great job trying to get resources out here."
The boat is expected to be removed and placed on a barge sometime Thursday.
