Another local case of West Nile Fever, more mosquitoes test positive

The West Nile continues its presence in Jefferson County as another human case of West Nile fever has been confirmed and two more batches of mosquitoes tested positive for the virus.

The new case of West Nile Fever is a person who lives in Beaumont.

The two batches brings the total number of positive tests done on mosquitoes in Jefferson County to seven in less than two months.

The Jefferson County Mosquito Control Director says one batch of mosquitoes was found near the corner of Swarner Drive and Eighth Street in Beauxart Gardens and the other along Normandy Ave. and 32nd Street in Port Arthur.

Trucks will be spraying for mosquitoes in both areas where the mosquitoes were collected. Aerial spraying will also be conducted if the weather permits.

Southeast Texas has had a total of 10 positive mosquito tests and three positive human cases of West Nile Fever.
