CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
An off-duty Corpus Christi Police Department officer was credited with bringing in a felon who was wanted on a warrant for drug charges.
Felix Zapata, Jr., 48, was arrested Wednesday night at a restaurant on Leopard, after an off-duty officer recognized him there. Zapata, a known gang member, is also known to be armed and dangerous; so the off-duty officer called in marked units to make the arrest.
In Zapata's pants pockets, police said they found baggies of a white powdered substance they believed to be cocaine. So along with being charged with a parole violation, Zapata also faces charges of drug possession.
