CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Police said it is a miracle that a man wasn't instantly killed after his car hit a concrete barrier, rolling over several times after veering off of Yorktown Friday morning.
The accident happened around 8:45 a.m., near the intersection of Airline and Yorktown. Police said the force of impact caused the engine block and the entire driver's-side floorboard to collapse.
"Alcohol was definitely a factor ,and so any times, you mix alcohol with driving and this is what can happen, regardless of what day it is," said Officer Victor Casares of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "If you have alcohol in your system, you're prone to have an accident like this."
The man was taken to Spohn Memorial Hospital. There has been no word on his condition.
