2nd warrant issued in Port Arthur murder

The Port Arthur Police Department has issued a warrant for the arrest of a second man in connection with the death of a Port Arthur store owner.

Officers are looking for Brandon Dinh Tran, 18, of Port Arthur.

Police describe Tran as being of Vietnamese and African American descent.  He is approximately 5'6" and 130 lbs.  Tran has a tattoo of the letter "P" over his right eyebrow and the word "LIFE" over the fingers of his hand.  Tran's last known location FM 1442 between Cow Bayou Bridge and Terry Road in Orange County.  Police say he was wearing white-colored shirt and dark-colored shorts.

Officers say Tran is considered armed and dangerous. The capital murder warrant has a bond set for $1 million.

Police say Tran took part in a Saturday-morning robbery in which the store owner was shot to death.

Port Arthur Police on Saturday arrested Darren Anthony Oliver, Jr, 18, of Port Arthur, in association with the sotre owners murder.

Officers say they responded to a robbery and shooting at Nikki's Lounge located at 5300 Gulfway Drive around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police say after the business closed, Tran and Oliver approached Hieu Huyen, 62, of Port Arthur, the owner of the business, and his wife.  Officers say one of the men shot Huyen below the ribcage.

Huyen ran a short distance then collapsed.

Witnesses say Tran and Oliver then walked up to Huyen and shot him again in the head. They stripped Huyen of his personal items including jewelry and his wallet.  His wife was not injured.

Tran and Oliver then ran north across Gulfway Drive toward Groves. 

Huyen was taken to Christus Hospital St. Mary where he was pronounced dead.
