A Beaumont Police Officer is recovering with what a police spokesperson says are non life-threatening injuries following an accident on Interstate 10 Tuesday afternoon.
The accident happened just after 1 p.m.
The westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near 7th Street were shut down as emergency crews worked the accident. The lanes reopened at 1:25 p.m.
A news release issued Tuesday afternoon says three of the Traffic
Officers assigned to the Motor Unit were traveling west bound in the
2200 block of IH10 on a call of a "possible fatality on 11th St." A vehicle
started drifting into their lane of travel. The officer's attention was
on the vehicle and one of the Motorcycle Officers struck a hazard in
the road and crashed.
The officer was taken to the hospital by EMS.
