A Port Arthur man is indicted on two counts of intoxication assault following a June accident that sent two people to the hospital.
The accident happened in the 1700 block of Cardinal Drive near South Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.
Police say a man and woman were on a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle heading southbound on Cardinal Drive. The driver of a 2003 Honda Accord traveling behind the cycle struck it causing the driver of the cycle to lose control. The motorcycle went down and traveled about a ¼ of a mile before coming to a rest on the inside shoulder next to the wire barrier.
The man and woman from the motorcycle were taken to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont where they were treated for severe head trauma.
The driver of the Honda, identified by police as Robert A. Pastorella, Jr, 44, of Port Arthur, was arrested and charged with intoxication assault.
A Jefferson County Grand Jury Thursday handed up a two-count indictment of intoxication assault against Pastorella.
