CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

It was day two of the second annual Gulf Ports Environmental Summit at the Port of Corpus Christi Thursday.

Representatives from ports all around the Gulf Coast, as well as environmental experts, were taking part. Sessions Thursday and Friday are focusing on air, storm water, spills and spill prevention, and waste management among other topics. Organizers hope this event helps to protect gulf resources.

"The goal is to get ports together and talk about ways that our ports can be both sustainable and economically productive," said Rob Schulz, senior environmental specialist with the Port of Corpus Christi. "But at the same time, coexist in a way that minimizes the impact on the environment."

The summit is scheduled to wrap up on Friday.
