Making sure to provide a safe haven for local children who are taken from abusive homes is the mission of The Ark Assessment Center & Emergency Shelter for Youth.
The Ark Gale is the only fundraiser of the year for The Ark in Calallen. It was held Thursday night at the Solomon P. Ortiz Center.
"Right now, we are doing our annual fundraiser which is something we hold on a yearly basis," said Delma Trejo, executive director of The Ark. "It's for our shelter to be able to be operating on a daily basis."
Kiii News Anchor Joe Gazin was there, serving as the event's master of ceremonies.
Last year, the event raised about $100,000, and they hope to do at least as well this year.
