Local Religious Leaders Prepare for Sept. 11 Memorial Prayer

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

It has been 11 years since the tragic day of Sept. 11, 2001, and local pastors representing several churches in Corpus Christi don't want you to forget that.

Flanked by other religious leaders, Pastor Lloyd Lister announced the seventh annual Memorial Prayer Gathering led by local clergy and government leaders. The event is a remembrance to those whose lives were lost on that tragic day.

This year it will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 11, at the Corpus Christi Christian Fellowship Church on the 6600 block of Staples.

Organizers say this event is an ongoing effort to never forget what happened that day.

"The purpose is to pray for the nation, the city, the state, the survivors and volunteers, and pray for God's protection," said Rev. Loyd Lister of the CC Christian Fellowship. "And we want to pray for a heart of retention and forgiveness."

Last year's Memorial Prayer brought in local leaders and residents from all across the city.
