TxDOT Approves 85 Mile Per Hour Limit on Highway 130

Posted: Updated:
AUSTIN (Kiii News) -

Want to push the pedal to the metal without getting a ticket? Soon, you will be able to go 85 miles per hour legally in Central Texas.

A stretch of State Highway 130, between Austin and San Antonio, will soon get those new 85 mile an hour signs.

The Texas Department of Transportation said 85 is okay because the toll road was designed with higher speeds in mind; but still, some drivers worry the increased speed will lead to more accidents.

The 41-mile segment of Highway 130 will be open to drivers by Nov. 11.
