HOUSTON (Kiii News) - The wife of a Kenedy County Justice of the Peace has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to transport illegal aliens.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Houston said 41-year old Sandra Lee Miller pleaded guilty on Thursday, to count one of the federal indictment against her, which charged her with illegal transportation of immigrants.
The number of immigrants was nine. Miller was arrested in July after a Department of Public Safety trooper pulled her over in Riviera for a license plate light violation. She was transporting a total of nine illegal immigrants.
The U.S. Border Patrol said the immigrants were from Ecuador, Honduras and Guatemala.
Miller is accused of harboring illegal immigrants at her home in Sarita, and conspiring to help transport the illegal immigrants to Houston. She was to be paid $500 for each immigrant.
Miller will be sentenced in December.
