JIM WELLS COUNTY (Kiii News) -
The fire that was started by a natural gas pipeline rupture in Jim Wells County on Thursday ended up burning for a lot longer than originally expected.
The Alice fire chief said the blaze is out now. The 10-inch gas line rupture sent flames high into the sky, and started a nearby grassfire.
A spokesperson for Copano Energy said the fire burned for most of the night, but the majority of the flames went down significantly Friday morning. Copano Energy does not know what caused the rupture.
