A seven-month investigation led to the discovery of drugs, guns and thousands of dollars in cash Friday morning.
Three homes in all were raided almost simultaneously at around 9 a.m.; one on Greenwood near Tarlton, another on the 2700 block of Presa, and a third on the 4900 block of Brandesky.
Neighbors stood by and watched the whole thing as police raided the homes, many of them shocked, and many of them afraid to go on camera, saying that they simply did not want to get involved.
It was at the home in the 4900 block of Brandesky where two people were taken into custody; a man who police say is a convicted felon, and a woman. A toddler was also inside of the home when the raid happened. The baby was later picked up by family members.
That home was one of three locations that police say were connected in an operation to manufacture and distribute drugs.
After an extensive search, police found powder cocaine, $15,000 in cash and several weapons hidden inside the home.
"We found a couple of guns. The male suspect in custody is a convicted felon, charged with convicted felon with firearms," said Captain Dave Cook of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "We found some ammunition. It was the most productive of the locations."
Another search warrant was served at a home on Greenwood near Tarlton. Officers were alerted that there were several aggressive dogs at the home. One of them was a pit bull, which charged not once but several times at the officers. Flash grenades and rubber bullets did not stop the aggressive dog. Officers ended up having to shoot and kill it.
Pills were found at the Greenwood home, and police said a woman will be charged.
No one was home at the Presa location, but they did discover some controlled substances.
Also, an unrelated CCPD search warrant led police to a stash of cash and drugs at a home on Magnolia Street.
More than $10,000in cash, a 9mm pistol and over 300 grams of cocaine were found inside of the home. The drugs are valued at $15,000.
Jorell Armadillo, 26, and Paul Christian, 56, were both arrested, and two vehicles were impounded.
