Police Turn Over Drive-By Investigation to Gang Unit

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A string of drive-by shootings jolted a northside neighborhood on Sunday, and police are still looking for the people responsible.

According to police, at around 10 a.m. Sunday, a known gang member shot up a house on Hudson Street. Officers said a woman was inside the home when the shooting started. There were also two other people and at least one child inside as well. Thankfully, no one was hit.

Police quickly figured out what it was all about, and turned the case over to the gang unit.

"The investigation is going to be forwarded to the gang unit, because there are indications of some gang affiliation ties between two groups here at this address," said Lt. Israel Soza of the Corpus Christi Police Department.

Police searched through the neighborhood and found a red car that they believed was used by the shooter a few streets away. The car was impounded.

A witness also gave police a description of the suspect, who was said to be a Hispanic male.

Police have responded to at least four drive-by shootings this summer alone. All happened in the same neighborhood. The last one happened about a month ago, when a family's home was riddled with bullet holes on Rosalie Street, just four streets over from Sunday's shooting.
