New details are emerging about the case of a Jim Wells County Commissioner accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile relative before shooting himself in the head.

According to a newly released affidavit, Precinct 3 Commissioner Oswald "Wally" Alanis shot himself after being confronted by his wife for sexually assaulting a juvenile relative. The alleged victim said she was sexually assaulted by Alanis at his home in Orange Grove.

After shooting himself, Alanis was taken to Spohn Memorial Hospital. The affidavit says Alanis is expected to recover from his injuries.
