Water Director Updates City Council on Water Restrictions

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

City Water Director Gus Gonzalez said, if the drought continues, our reservoir system could dry up in two and a half years.

Gonzalez made those comments on Monday as he was updating Council on drought restrictions that are now set to begin around the Oct. 1. That will mean residents won't be able to water between 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Doing so could result in a fine being issued to the homeowner.

However, the water restrictions might not be in place for long if the National Weather Service prediction about a Spring El Niño come true.

"They feel very confident that the spring time will see a 40-percent chance higher probability of a wetter season," Gonzalez said.
