CASA in Need of Volunteers

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

As you may know, volunteers with the group known as CASA help abused or neglected children as they make their way to a safer, healthier environment.

However, those volunteers are becoming scarce.

"Last year, we were only able to advocate for a little over 400 of the children of the 900 in foster care," CASA Recruiter Diana Booth said. "So we need to double our numbers in volunteers. I'd say we need a good 200 volunteers to reach that number."

Breaking down those numbers, last year there were 975 foster children in the Coastal Bend, but only about 400 had CASA volunteers to help them get placed in a secure and nurturing home.
