CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Platter-sized clumps of tar were washing up on the beach just south of Packery Channel on Wednesday.
The U.S. Coast Guard hired a contractor on Wednesday to start cleaning up thick masses of tar that have been washing up on the beach just south of Packery Channel.
Most of the tar is washing up in huge chunks. The clumps are sticky, and thick like syrup, but most tourists did not seem to mind because they were able to navigate around the tar. However, most everyone was wondering where it was all coming from.
Many people said they thought it was possibly from the BP oil spill that happened two summers ago, thinking that maybe that oil was finally starting to come up to the surface.
