She's a six-time Grammy Award winner who has successfully gone from Christian music to pop and back again, and she was in town Wednesday night to raise money for a good cause.
Amy Grant was at the Ronald McDonald House Wednesday afternoon meeting with patients and their families. She was the guest speaker Wednesday night at Casa de Amor, the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Ronald McDonald House.
Grant said she jumped at the opportunity to help out.
"I have always had a heart for this," Grant said. "I'm the daughter of a man who spent his entire career in radiation oncology. I could always tell my dad was especially quiet at dinner whenever he was treating a child. So when I was invited to come be a part of the fundraiser here in Corpus Christi, it was an immediate yes."
The Casa de Amor event kicked off at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the American Bank Center. Some 800 people were expected to attend.
