One shot in Beaumont home invasion

Beaumont police are investigating a home invasion that led to a shooting Wednesday night in the 4600 block of Hartel Street off E. Virginia Avenue.

Police tell 12News HD a man knocked on the door of an apartment around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday. When a woman answered the door, he pushed his way inside the apartment.

Witnesses told police the man had a small handgun and was demanding money.

There were seven people inside the aparmtent. They began to attack the rober and the gun went off in the scuffle.

A woman who was in the apartment was shot in the shoulder.

The woman and the robbery suspect were taken to the hospital. A police dispatcher did not know their condition.

Officers have not yet said what charges would be filed.
