Police Officer Helps Fire Department Fight Beckford House Fire

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The Corpus Christi Fire Department received assistance from the Corpus Christi Police Department when putting out a house fire Wednesday night.

It happened just after 6:30 p.m. in the 6200 block of Beckford. Six people were inside the home, and they were able to escape safely.

"Crews got here and they found a fire that had occurred in the garage," CCFD Captain James Brown said. "Apparently, there was a police department officer on the scene who extinguished it with a garden hose."

However, the firefighting wasn't finished just yet. It turns out the fire actually extended into the attic, so fire crews had to break into it to finally put the blaze out.

Fortunately, all of the damage was contained to the garage.
