AGUA DULCE (Kiii News) -

First responders had to use the jaws of life to rescue a trapped driver in an early-morning rollover along Highway 44 near County Road 107, just north of Agua Dulce.

Department of Public Safety troopers and authorities from Jim Wells County were on the scene. While crews were investigating the accident, another happened moments later, involving at least one onlooker. Troopers are now investigating whose at fault in that crash.

"It's hard to say, at this point, but as far as now, it's going to be the vehicle behind it following too close and failure to control speed," State Trooper Hector Benavidez said. "But investigations are still going on."

As a result of the second collision, one woman was taken to the hospital with some neck pain. The eastbound side of Highway 44 was reduced to one lane while crews cleared the scene.
