Police in Corpus Christi and Kleberg County are investigating a sexual assault that eventually led to a grassfire near the Padre Island National Seashore.
Investigators said a woman was sexually assaulted at Bob Hall Pier. Her attackers then allegedly drove her car into the dunes, where it started a brush fire.
Officers responded to an emergency call shortly after midnight. The victim said two men sexually assaulted her at Bob Hall Pier, and then drove her car into the dunes, where it started a brush fire.
Around the same time that officers arrived, a fire was reported near the entrance of the National Seashore, off Park Road 22. Crews managed to contain the fire, and roughly one acre was scorched.
