CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii Sports) - The Texas A&M-CC volleyball team picked
up a huge win on Thursday night in its home match of the season at the
Dugan Wellness Center.
The Islanders handed unbeaten Central
Arkansas its first loss of the season with a determined effort in front
of a raucous crowd in the Southland Conference opener for both
squads. Coach Tony Graystone's team won the first two sets in front of
home fans, but Central Arkansas stormed back to force a fifth and
deciding set. A&M-CC fell behind 2-7 before rallying to win the set
and the match, 3-2.
The victory upped the Islanders' record to
8-4 on the season. They move into a four-way tie for first place in the
Southland Conference.
The Islanders will try to up their conference
record to 2-0 as they host Oral Roberts at 1pm on Saturday in a
Southland Conference match at the Dugan Wellness Center.
