A Corpus Christi man whose case was dismissed after spending the last nine years in prison for a conviction of having sex with a minor, will be going back to court to be sentenced.
The Court of Criminal Appeals ruled that 105th District Court Judge Angelica Hernandez needed to vacate her order dismissing the case and hold a new sentencing hearing.
It was in May that the appeals court had ruled that the original judge, Manuel Banales, violated Brandon Coronado's civil rights. It was then that Judge Hernandez' held a hearing and dismissed the charges.
A new sentencing hearing will be held within 30 days. Hernandez could sentence Coronado to time served or up to 99 years.
